The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body whose duties are to hear appeals from and review any order, requirement or decision made by the Zoning Enforcement Officer, to grant Special Use Permits as required by the Zoning Ordinance and to grant variances to the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance when practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships result from carrying out the strict letter of the ordinance. GS 160a-388 (City) and GS 153a-345 (County).  Established in 1972.
